The Plympton Public Library acknowledges its responsibility for building and maintaining a collection of library materials that meets the needs of its patrons, present and future. The funds for addressing this responsibility are both municipal and private. In fulfilling this role, the Library endeavors to complement the collections of neighboring libraries, while also providing access to popular materials.
The Library acknowledges and abides by the Library Bill of Rights and the Freedom to Read statements developed by the American Library Association.
Criteria for materials acquisition and collection development is based on review of professional materials, professional experience, and knowledge of the Library’s patronage. Titles are selected on the basis of the content of the entire works, without regard for the author’s personal history. The Library will not discriminate on the basis of race, nationality, or political or religious views of the author. Our full collections policy is available here.
